Pull kick shot

A pass to the middle player, who shoots straight or sprays.

One of the easiest shots and often the first one new players learn. A left-side player passes to the middle player, who then shoots straight or sprays.

It is also one of the easiest to block, so mix up speed and timing to throw the defense off.

Push kick shot

The pull kick in reverse: push the pass to the middle, then shoot.

The reverse of the pull kick shot. Instead of a pass towards you, the right offense player pushes the ball to the middle player, who then shoots.

Bank shot

An indirect shot off the wall, usually from the defense rods.

An indirect shot at the goal off the side wall. Any rod can play it, but usually the two defense players do.

The trick is finding the right timing and angle to get past every opponent.

Pull shot

Pull the ball past the defense and shoot it yourself.

An effective and versatile shot. Instead of passing, the player with the ball pulls it past the defense and shoots.

Usually played by the middle offense player, but the left attacker can do it too.

Push shot

Push the ball past the defense instead of pulling it.

The inverse of the pull shot. Instead of pulling the ball past the defense, you push it and then shoot.

Typically the middle offense player plays it, but the right attacker or even a defense rod can too.

Spray shot

Any shot that isn’t straight, aimed at the corners.

Any shot that is not straight. It combines with every other technique: once you master a shot, add a spray to surprise the defense by shooting into the corners instead of the middle.

Snake shot

Pin the ball under the player, then spin the rod through.

An advanced shot many professionals use in tournaments, almost always from the middle attacker. Unlike other shots, the player sits on top of the ball instead of behind it.

Move left and right to change the angle. When you see an opening, spin the rod a full turn to hit the ball from behind.

A full rotation is hard with the hand alone, so many pros put the wrist or forearm on the rod and pull it up for speed.

Tic-tac shot

Quick passes between offense players until a gap opens.

Needs solid ball control. The offense players pass the ball back and forth until a gap opens in the defense, then shoot quickly, straight or with a spray.

Practise the shot, then put it on the scoreboard
